Kirkby Stephen Fire Station

Kirkby Stephen Fire is a small market town on the eastern edges of Cumbria bordering Yorkshire and Durham.   Kirkby Stephen Fire Station has one fire engine and covers one of the largest areas in Cumbria, which included the Settle and Carlisle Railway Line, and part of the M6 motorway and the main West Coast Railway. The area covered is very rural and calls within the station area are varied and include fell, farm and private dwelling house fires, floods and road traffic collisions.

The fire station also gets involved in raising funds for the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund along with other charitable organisations. The crew attend local functions, open days, school fetes and shows and help spread the fire safety message to members of the public within the Kirkby Stephen area and continue to become more involved in the community in general.

Each retained (part time staffed) fire station in Cumbria has at least one trained community firefighter who is involved in the station area fitting free smoke alarms and giving fire safety advice to the public.   The following wards are covered: Kirkby Stephen, Ravenstonedale and Brough.
