Carlisle Floods

The storms that affected Cumbria in January 2005 were the worst in living memory and caused massive disruption and damage across the county.  The Fire and Rescue Service were heavily involved, both from an operational point of view and by the fact that Carlisle Fire Station was at the centre of the flooding in the area and had to be evacuated.  The story of the floods is best told by the message sent out to all our staff by Bernard Dolan as well as the images of the aftermath of a natural disaster.  Please follow the link to read this message and to view some of the images.
