Working with Young People

In order to achieve a real reduction in fires, fire related deaths and injuries and the number of young people killed or injured in road traffic collisions, Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service has to do more than attend incidents effectively.

We now work with young people in group and individual activities in order to achieve safer communities where young people are better informed about the risks around them.

The outcomes from our community safety activities are enhanced by working with a wide range of agencies and organisations under the umbrella of the Children's and Young Peoples Strategic Partnership.

Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service currently delivers the following courses to engage young people, both marginalised and mainstream:

Young fire fighter
  • Road Awareness Programme
  • Young Firefighters Programme
  • FACE (Fire Awareness Child Education Programme)
  • Schools Safety Education Programme
  • 'Setpoint' Maths Days
  • Junior Citizens Scheme
  • Youth Offending Programme
  • Duke of Edinburgh
  • Princes Trust
