Equality

Equality is about everyone having the same chances in life and getting the same access to the services they need. For Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service this about making sure that those most vulnerable in our community are made safer.

Diversity is about understanding and valuing people's different needs and aspirations.

Equality is not about treating everyone the same, it is about the right service for the right people.

Corporate Council policies in respect of equality apply to the Fire & Rescue Service. The Council has an overarching Single Equality Scheme, Equality for All.  

Linked to this Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service produces an annual Equality Action Plan. It also produces an annual equality report.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service have a thematic approach to equality impact assessments, there are 4 key documents prevention, protection, intervention and organisational development and these are updated regularly.
