Teachers Fire Safety Information

Teacher's fire safety information

On average 34 children under the age of 11 are killed in fires in the UK every year and around 1,200 are injured. You can help the children in your class stay safe from fire by teaching them about the dangers of fire, and what they could do to prevent one. Kids also need to know what to do if there is a fire.

On this website you can find some great fire safety games, letting children learn and have fun at the same time.

To help plan lessons, there is a range of fire safety leaflets that you may find useful.

Are you worried that a child in your class might become a fire setter?

Most children show a natural interest and curiosity in fire. However, for some young people this interest develops into something more dangerous, putting themselves, their family, friends and homes at risk. Children under 10 cause 6,000 fires a year. If you are worried about a child setting fires you can find out about the Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service Firesetter Intervention Programme
