At 2257 hours on Wednesday 23rd July, an appliance from Longtown and an appliance from Carlisle along with Station Manager Steve Graham attended a road traffic collision on the A6071 near Guards Mill, Gretna. One casualty was released prior to the arrival of the fire service, and one casualty was released by the crews using hydraulic equipment. The last appliance returned home station at 0121 hours.

At 2049 hours on Saturday 19th July, 2 appliances from Carlisle attended reports of a property fire at Peel Street in Carlisle. On arrival crews found the kitchen of the property to be well alight. The fire was extinguished by Firefighters using 1 hose reel and 4 breathing apparatus. The crew returned to station at 2135 hours

At 0121 hours on Friday, 18th July 2008, 2 appliances from Carlisle, one appliance from Brampton, along with Station Manager Steve Graham, Group Manager Justin Robinson & Area Manager Bob Nixon attended reports of a serious property fire on Brook Street, Carlisle. The fire involved a 2 storey terraced property, which was well alight on arrival. The fire was extinguished by 6 breathing apparatus wearers using 3 hosereels, thermal image cameras, lighting, 7 metre & triple extension ladders, small tools & salvage sheets. One female casualty was rescued from the property by firefighters. She was transferred to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. All other persons were accounted for. The crews were detained for some time damping down & carrying out a fire investigation. The final crew returned to home station at 0613 hours. The incident involved 1 vehicle, the scene was made safe by Fire and Rescue Service personnel using Environmental Equipment. Crews returned to station by 1006 hours.

At 0722 hours on Thursday 17th July 2008, 2 appliances from Ulverston along with Station Manager Gavin Roberts attended reports of an RTC on A590 at Backbarrow. The incident involved 2 vehicles, 1 of which was on its side on the riverbank. 1 female was released from this vehicle by fire service personnel using hydraulic cutting equipment before being taken to hospital by ambulance. The fire in the kitchen area was extinguished by 2 breathing apparatus wearers removing the heat source to open air. A dog & a tortoise were rescued from the property by firefighters. The fire in a 51 tonne Mussel Dredger was confined to wiring and lagging and was extinguished by crews using 1 hose reel, 2 sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal image camera. At 2355 hours on Monday 7th July, one appliance from Whitehaven attended a shed fire at The Green, Bransty, Whitehaven. The shed was well alight on arrival and was extinguished using 2 hose reels and 2 sets of breathing apparatus and the thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots. Damage was caused to the outside of neighbouring properties due to the heat. The crew returned home station by 0111 hours.

At 2354 hours on Monday 7th July, two appliances and the Major Rescue Vehicle from Carlisle attended a report of a cow stuck in a cattle grid at Cardewmires Quarry, Cardewlees, Carlisle. The cow was a young heifer and was released from the cattle grid using two sets of cutting and spreading equipment and a Senger saw. She had a slight graze to her shin but was otherwise unharmed. The appliances returned home station at 0050 hours.

At 1533 hours on Thursday 3rd July 2008, two appliances from Kendal and Shap and Station Manager Sharrock attended a road traffic collision on the A6, approximately 5 miles north of Kendal. The incident involved one vehicle, one female casualty was rescued using a short extension ladder and manpower. The casualty was transferred to hospital by air ambulance. There were 3 casualties who were treated at the scene by Ambulance personnel , 1 who was conveyed to hospital via air ambulance. The ground floor of a timber-built property measuring approximately 15 metres by 10 metres was well alight on arrival. No persons were involved. Crews used 2 light portable pumps from Rigg Beck & 3 jets to extinguish the fire. Crews returned to home station at 1251 hours. The bird and chicks were rescued by the Service and the appliances returned to station at 1823 hours.
