At 09:56 one fire engine from Kendal mobilised to a report of a car fire on Highgate in Kendal. Once in attendance crews discovered the fire was already out. It was caused by an electrical fault and to make the vehicle safe crews removed to battery using small tools.

At 13:34 hours one fire engine from Whitehaven mobilised to a report of rubbish on fire on Coach Road in Whitehaven. Once in attendance crews discoverd a fire involving an quantity of rubbish including a propane cylinder. Crews used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and cool the cyclinder.

At 18:59 firefighters were called to a fire at a warehouse on London Road in Carlisle. When they arrived crews found a small amount of rubbish on fire in the building. A hose reel jet was used to put the fire out. A joint investigation with Cumbria Police is now underway to find the cause of the fire.

At 21:14 firefighters were called to a report of a grass fire off the A595 in Parton. When the crews arrived they found that an area of about 100sqm of grass and gorse was alight. They used backpack extinguishers and beaters to deal with the fire.

At 17:48 hours one fire engine from Workington attended a grass fire approximately three square metres in size at Siddick Pond Nature Reserve, Northside Road in Northside. Crews extinguished the fire using beaters.

At 02:51 hours one fire engine from Carlisle East and one fire engine from Carlisle West attended a fire involving a chip pan which had been left unattended and was alight on arrival of the crews at premises on Ennerdale Avenue in Carlisle. The property was heavily smoke loggeed and two breathing apparatus wearers extinguished the fire using one hose reel and a fire blanket. At 14:25 firefighters from Penrith attended a road traffic collision on Access Road to Raislands, Penrith which involved two vehicles and the driver of one small commercial van trapped. At 14:27 hours one fire engine from Workington and one fire engine from Whitehaven mobilised to a report of a road traffic collision on Branthwaite Road in Workington. Once in attendance the crews discovered the collision involve two vehicles with one person released prior to their arrival. One of the vehicles was on its side and firefighters used stabilising equipment on the vehicle and then removed the roof with specialist cutting equipment to release one female and one male from the car. At 16:25 hours one fire engine from Whitehaven mobilised to a report of smoke issuing from a manhole cover on the pavement outside St Bees Anglican Church on Main Street in St Bees. Once in attendance a cordon was set up and one breathing apparatus wearer used one hose reel and an extinguisher to put out the fire. A thermal imaging camera was also used to check the fire was out. The incident was subsequently handed over to the electrical services provider.

At 00:13 two fire crews from Whitehaven were mobilised to a building fire at a Pow Beck house on Meadow Road in Whitehaven. This was a fire in a first floor room. The fire crews, including four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. There was heavy smoke logging within the property. Here is a summary of incidents attended up to 12:05pm: 09:40 Edgehill Road - firefighters unblocked drains. 09:58 Wigton Road - firefighters unblocked drains. 10:02 Kingmoor Road - a taxi was stuck in flood water, so firefighters rescued one male from the vehicle. 12:05 Westrigg Road - flooding affecting numerous properties. 12:06 Helvellyn Rise - water was channelled away from a property.

Here are the incidents attended in Penrith and Alston: At 10:23 at a property on Holmesfoot in Nenthead - firefighters used a light portable pump to remove water. At 10:34 at Grove Cottages in Alston - firefighters used a light portable pump to remove water. At 11:19 at Elmfield House in Alsotn - firefighters used a light portable pump to remove water. At 11:40 ata cottage in Blencow - firefighters used a light portable pump to remove water that had flooded the property.

Fire crews provided advice and help to many people in Wigton and surrounding areas due to flooding. Including: 10:16 property in Cumwhinton - water was removed using buckets and wheelie bins. 10:56 The Old String of Horses in Welton - firefighters had to divert water. 11:24 Beech cottages in Wigton - a section of road has been damaged by water, so firefighters closed the road. 12:15 Property in Cumwhinton - firefighters used a light portable pump to remove water. 12:39 cottage in Rosley - firefighters cleared the drains. 14:05 Wigton Fire Station - firefighters had to pump water from the firestation using two light portable pumps. 14:05 Dundraw Road Wigton - Main pump, hard suction and soft suction were used to disperse water. 15:58 a barn in Stockdalewath in Dalston - property was two foot deep in flood water so a main pump, hard suction and light portable pump were used.

At 18:12 two fire crews from penrith attended a road traffic collision on the A66 in Penrith. This involved a HGV and two private motor vehicles, one of which had overturned down the embankment. All casualties were released prior to the arrival of the fire crews. Firefighters helped paramedics with casualty care. Firefighters also made the vehicles safe. At 18:30 fire crews from Penrith, Carlisle East and Shap were mobilised to a fire in the Little Chippy on Cornmarket, Penrith. The aerial appliance from Carlisle East was also mobilised. On arrival at the incident, the fire crews found the building on fire. This was a two storey fish and chip shop (approx. 6m x 8m) which was well alight. The fire crews, including four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets and two dry powder extinguishers to extinguish the fire. Police attended, to make the area outside the chip shop safe. Firefighters used a large fan to clear the smoke from the building. At 16:55 hours one fire engine from Barrow mobilised to a report of a grass fire on Cavendish Park in Barrow-in-Furness. Once in attendance crews discovered approximaely ten square metres of grass and gorse which was alight and back packs were used to extinguish the fire.

At 18:48 hours two fire engines from Penrith attended a fire involving a caravan at Gill Head Farm Caravan Park at Troutbeck. Once in attendance crews discovered the fire had spread to a motor vehicle which was well alight and also affected woodland behind the vehicle. Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. At 15:32 a fire crew from Keswick and Cockermouth were mobilised to a house fire on the access road through to Threlkeld from the A66T at Threlkeld. The aerial appliance and a fire engine from Carlisle East also attended. On arrival at the incident, the fire crews found that this was a fire in the roof space of a buliding, approximately 20 metres by 10 metres. Police were requested to attend, to close the road. Fire crews used a tripple extension roof ladder and one hose reel jet to extinguish the fire. At 13:48 two fire engines from Barrow were called to a takeaway restaurant on Market Street, Dalton-in-Furness. There had been a small fire in an electricity consumer unit which was continuing to smoulder. Firefighters used a CO2 and a dry powder extinguisher to put out the fire and a thermal imaging camera to check for further areas of heat. The crews liaised with the electricity company as they repaired the unit.

On arrival crews found one adult trapped under the digger and two others from the car injured. Crews released the person from under the digger using hydraulic cutting gear, airbags and equipment and the casualties were transported to hospital via Air and land Ambulances.
