One casualty was released prior to the arrival of the fire service, and one casualty was released by the crews using hydraulic equipment. The last appliance returned home station at 0121 hours.

At 2049 hours on Saturday 19th July, 2 appliances from Carlisle attended reports of a property fire at Peel Street in Carlisle. On arrival crews found the kitchen of the property to be well alight. The fire was extinguished by Firefighters using 1 hose reel and 4 breathing apparatus. The crew returned to station at 2135 hours

At 0121 hours on Friday, 18th July 2008, 2 appliances from Carlisle, one appliance from Brampton, along with Station Manager Steve Graham, Group Manager Justin Robinson & Area Manager Bob Nixon attended reports of a serious property fire on Brook Street, Carlisle. The fire involved a 2 storey terraced property, which was well alight on arrival. The fire was extinguished by 6 breathing apparatus wearers using 3 hosereels, thermal image cameras, lighting, 7 metre & triple extension ladders, small tools & salvage sheets. One female casualty was rescued from the property by firefighters. She was transferred to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle. All other persons were accounted for. The crews were detained for some time damping down & carrying out a fire investigation. The final crew returned to home station at 0613 hours. At 0848 hours on Thursday 16th July 2008, 1 appliance from Ambleside was called to reports of a 1 vehicle RTC near to the Ferry Landing at Far Sawrey, Ambleside. The incident involved 1 vehicle, the scene was made safe by Fire and Rescue Service personnel using Environmental Equipment. Crews returned to station by 1006 hours.

At 0722 hours on Thursday 17th July 2008, 2 appliances from Ulverston along with Station Manager Gavin Roberts attended reports of an RTC on A590 at Backbarrow. The incident involved 2 vehicles, 1 of which was on its side on the riverbank. 1 female was released from this vehicle by fire service personnel using hydraulic cutting equipment before being taken to hospital by ambulance. At 1257 hours on Wednesday, 16th July 2008, 2 appliances from Carlisle attended a property fire on Crindledyke Close, Kingstown, Carlisle. The fire in the kitchen area was extinguished by 2 breathing apparatus wearers removing the heat source to open air. A dog & a tortoise were rescued from the property by firefighters. At 1454 hours on Tuesday 15th July 2008, 1 appliance from Appleby, 1 appliance from Kirkby Stephen and Station Manager Joe Little attended reports of a property fire at The Sands, Appleby. The incident involved a fire in the roof space of a building which was extinguished using 2 jets, 2 hose reels, 1 x 9m ladder, 1 roof ladder, working at height equipment and a thermal image camera. At 2051 hours on Tuesday 15th July 2008, two appliances from Maryport attended reports of a fire at a property on Ewanrigg Brow, Maryport. The incident involved a fire in an outhouse of an unoccupied property and was extinguished using one hose reel and a thermal image camera. The appliances returned to station at 2114 hours.

At 0414 hours on Sunday 13th July 2008, 1 appliance from Maryport was called to reports of a vehicle fire at Moorside Drive, Maryport. One car was found to be well alight on arrival and extinguished using 2 hose reels. crews returned to station by 0445 hours.

At 0443 hours on Saturday 12th July, 1 appliance Barrow and 1 appliance Walney attended reports of a property fire on Ocean Road , Walney. On arrival the crews found the kitchen of the property to be alight and the property heavily smoke logged. The fire was extinguished using 1 hose reel 4 breathing apparatus and a thermal Image camera. The last appliance returned to station at 0612 hours.

At 0702 hours on Friday 11 July 2008 1 appliance from Wigton and 1 appliance from Carlisle attended a fire in a property at Burnfoot, near Wigton. The fire involved floorboards in a Bedroom, Extinguished using scotty bag, thermal image camera and cutting away the affected area. Crews returned to station at 07:58 hours.

At 1350 hours on Thursday 10th July 2008, crews from Barrow and Station Manager Roberts attended reports of a fire on a boat on dry dock at Barrow Docks. The fire in a 51 tonne Mussel Dredger was confined to wiring and lagging and was extinguished by crews using 1 hose reel, 2 sets of breathing apparatus and a thermal image camera. At 2145 hours on Thursday, 10th July 2008, one appliance from Carlisle attended a property on Ridley Road, Currock, Carlisle. A 17 year old female had trapped her hand in a window frame. The crew used small hand tools to free her fingers. They returned to home station at 2205 hours.

At 1235 hours on Wednesday 9th July , 1 appliance Wigton and 1 Aspatria attended reports of a property fire at Banks Crescent in Wigton. On arrival crews found a fire in the attic of a property which was extinguished using 1 hose reel and 2 breathing apparatus. The last appliance returned to station at 1333 hours. At 1645 hours on Wednesday 9th July, 1 appliance Barrow attended reports of a machinery fire at the Barrow Evening Mail, Phoenix Road in Barrow. On arrival crews found a fire in a diesel generator inside an outbuilding. The fire was extinguished by firefighters using 1 hose reel and 2 breathing apparatus. They returned to home station at 1724.

At 2103 hours, 2 appliances from Whitehaven along with Group Manager Edgar attended to a kitchen fire in a ground floor flat of a domestic property in scotch Street, Whitehaven. At 2320 hours on Sunday 6th July 2008, two appliances from Barrow attended a vehicle fire at the rear of Dalton Street, Barrow. The car was extinguished using two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus. Crews returned at 0110 hours.

At 2355 hours on Monday 7th July, one appliance from Whitehaven attended a shed fire at The Green, Bransty, Whitehaven. The shed was well alight on arrival and was extinguished using 2 hose reels and 2 sets of breathing apparatus and the thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots. Damage was caused to the outside of neighbouring properties due to the heat. The crew returned home station by 0111 hours.

At 2354 hours on Monday 7th July, two appliances and the Major Rescue Vehicle from Carlisle attended a report of a cow stuck in a cattle grid at Cardewmires Quarry, Cardewlees, Carlisle. The cow was a young heifer and was released from the cattle grid using two sets of cutting and spreading equipment and a Senger saw. She had a slight graze to her shin but was otherwise unharmed. The appliances returned home station at 0050 hours.

At 0133 hours on Monday 7th July 2008, one appliance from Longtown attended a vehicle fire near to Closegap, Longtown. The fire was extinguished using one hosereel. The appliance returned to station at 0218 hours.

At 1418 hours on Thursday 3rd July 2008, two appliances from Staveley and Kendal and Station Manager Sharrock, attended reports of a property fire on Kentmere Road, Staveley. The fire was confined to the roof space of a two storey property and was extinguished using one hose reel and four sets of breathing apparatus. Crews returned to stations at 1558 hours. At 1533 hours on Thursday 3rd July 2008, two appliances from Kendal and Shap and Station Manager Sharrock attended a road traffic collision on the A6, approximately 5 miles north of Kendal. The incident involved one vehicle, one female casualty was rescued using a short extension ladder and manpower. The casualty was transferred to hospital by air ambulance. On arrival the crews found that a collision had taken place between 1 Large Goods Vehicle and 3 motorcycles. There were 3 casualties who were treated at the scene by Ambulance personnel , 1 who was conveyed to hospital via air ambulance. At 0642 hours on Monday, 30th June 2008, 2 appliances from Keswick, along with Group Manager Adrian Holme attended reports of a property fire near Rigg Beck, Newlands, Keswick. The ground floor of a timber-built property measuring approximately 15 metres by 10 metres was well alight on arrival. No persons were involved. Crews used 2 light portable pumps from Rigg Beck & 3 jets to extinguish the fire. Crews returned to home station at 1251 hours.
