Seascale is a village on the West Cumbria coast with a population of approximately 2,800 people with a further 1,400 residing in the neighbouring village of Gosforth. The village was a popular seaside resort as far back as Victorian times and has wide clean sandy beaches.
The main employment in the area is the BNG site at Sellafield approximately two miles north of the village. The other main employment in the area is tourism with the Lake District National Park on the doorstep and the highest peaks in England, the Scawfell range accessed through this area.
The Fire Station is located on Gosforth Road in the centre of Seascale village, staffed by 12 retained firefighters and has one fire engine. The A595 trunk road passes through the station area which can lead to problems with road traffic collisions and the station also deals with a significant number of supporting calls into the Sellafield site as back up to the works fire service.
Like all other fire stations the staff are actively involved in a wide range of community safety activities. If you want any help or advice on safety issues contact David Moore, the Community Safety Firefighter
