About the role

We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support the People team in the role of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Delivery Lead. This is a key role that will help shape and influence how we create and maintain an inclusive culture across the Service and within the communities we serve. We are looking for someone with a passion for equality, diversity and inclusion who can work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and local communities to drive meaningful and sustainable change. Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication and engagement skills, experience of influencing and working with a wide range of stakeholders, and a strong understanding of EDI principles and best practice. You will be confident analysing data, developing solutions, delivering training and supporting organisational improvement initiatives. Within this role you will be expected to undertake a variety of activities, including:

  • Managing and quality assuring Equality Impact Assessments (EqIAs), providing advice and support across the organisation.
  • Leading the development, review and implementation of EDI-related policies, procedures and guidance.
  • Supporting staff networks and employee engagement activities to ensure diverse voices contribute to organisational development.
  • Designing, delivering and evaluating engaging Equality, Diversity and Inclusion training and development activities for employees.
  • Analysing workforce and community data to inform decision making, monitor progress and demonstrate impact.
  • Working closely with communities, partners and stakeholders to build positive relationships and remove barriers to engagement with Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service.
  • Supporting the continued embedding of the Core Code of Ethics throughout the Service.

INTERNAL ONLY

Salary: Grade 14 (or equivalent Grey Book, Watch Manager) £45,091

Locations: Based primarily at Penrith. The role will involve travel throughout Cumbria. 

Hours: 37 hours per week. We offer flexible working opportunities, including part-time arrangements, which can be discussed at interview. 

Contract: Fixed Term 12 months. 

Closing Date: 28th August 2026 at 11:59pm

Interview Date: 10th September 2026, Penrith HQ.
