Seascale fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.

The A595 trunk road passes through the station area which can lead to problems with road traffic collisions and the station also deals with a significant number of supporting calls into the Sellafield site as back up to the works fire service. The main employment in the area is the BNG site at Sellafield approximately two miles north of the village. The other main employment in the area is tourism with the Lake District National Park being on the doorstep and the highest peaks in England, the Scafell range having some routes accessed through this area.

History

Seascale is a village on the West Cumbria coast with a population of approximately 2,800  people with a further 1,400 residing in the neighbouring village of Gosforth. The main employment in the area is the site at Sellafield approximately two miles north of the village. The other main employment in the area is tourism with the Lake District National Park on the doorstep and the highest peaks in England, the Scafell range accessed through this area.
