Temporary Watch Manager opportunity - L&D

Fire Service Watch Manager – L&D

 

Location: Penrith Service HQ

Salary: WM Grey Book (+10% L&D Allowance)

Job Type: Temporary Cover (initially 3 months) – 42 Hours per week.

Eligibility: INTERNAL ONLY. Competent, substantive, permanent Crew manager or above with an in date ICL1 qualification.

 

Closing Date: Friday 18th July 2025

Interview Date:  w/c 21st July 2025

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The main responsibilities for this role will be to lead the upcoming On-Call New Recruits Course starting soon.

 

About You:

  • You must be a competent, substantive, permanent crew manager or above with an in date ICL1 qualification to apply.
  • Applicants must have sound working knowledge of IT systems.
  • Willingness to attend a number of residential courses to obtain the relevant Instructor/Teaching qualifications, if not already achieved.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills.  
  • Be sensitive to the needs of the On-Call members of staff

Desirable:

  • Holds existing instructional qualifications

Temporary Crew Manager opportunity - L&D

Fire Service Crew Manager – L&D Instructor

 

Location: Penrith Service HQ

Salary: CM Grey Book (+10% L&D Allowance)

Job Type: Temporary Cover (initially 3 months) – 42 Hours per week.

Eligibility: INTERNAL ONLY. Competent, permanent firefighter.

 

Closing Date: Friday 18th July 2025

Interview Date: w/c 21st July 2025

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the instruction and development of operational staff.
  • Support the relevant Watch Manager Lead with planning, design and implementation of training and assessment.
  • Manage departmental resources – including equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports related to L&D activities.

     

About You:

  • You must be a competent, substantive, permanent firefighter  
  • Applicants must have sound working knowledge of IT systems.
  • All applicants must be a competent BA wearer with no outstanding performance issues in this area.
  • Willingness to attend a number of residential courses to obtain the relevant Instructor/Teaching qualifications, if not already achieved.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organisational skills.  

 

Desirable:

  • An in date ICL1 qualification.
