Development Opportunity - Service Leadership Team Support Officer

We are inviting applications for a 12-month development opportunity to take on the role of Service Leadership Team Support Officer, reporting directly to the Assistant Chief Fire Officer Service Delivery and working closely with members of the Service Leadership Team (SLT). The role is open to both corporate and operational staff.

Purpose of the Role

This opportunity has been created to provide focused support to SLT in three key areas:

  1. Coordinating the service’s response to the recent HMICFRS inspection and preparing for future inspections.
  2. Supporting the delivery of the Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP).
  3. Providing programme and project coordination support across key areas of work.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to service-wide improvements, gain valuable experience working at a strategic level, and develop your skills in corporate planning, inspection readiness, and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in coordinating the service’s response to HMICFRS feedback and inspection findings.
  • Supporting the delivery, monitoring and reporting of the HMICFRS improvement plan.
  • Assisting SLT with oversight and progress of CRMP deliverables.
  • Providing programme and project coordination support across service priority areas.
  • Supporting evidence gathering, action tracking and performance reporting.
  • Liaising with department leads to ensure actions are progressed and documented.
  • Providing general coordination support and capability to SLT.

Temporary Watch Manager opportunity - Fire Protection

The Fire Protection team are looking to appoint a Watch Manager on a 6-month temporary basis.

The role will:

  • Lead on and take responsibility for fire protection audit and enforcement activities within their respective area as directed by the Station Manager Fire Protection.
  • Contribute to safer communities by providing advice and information on business fire safety and by assisting in engaging or developing internal/external local partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Investigate and report upon breaches of the RR(FS)O for the commencement of legal prosecutions throughout Cumbria as required by the Fire Protection Team Station Manager
  • Deal and respond to complaints and enquiries for the business community and members of the public on fire safety related matters.
     

Expressions of interest are invited from Watch and Crew Managers who hold a current Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety.
