Key Responsibilities

L&D BA and tactical firefighting lead

Development and assessment of BA training and assessment

Management of staffing for BA courses

Management of Associate BA instructors
-
Managing development plans for BA wearers who do not meet the required standards

Reviewing breathing apparatus and tactical firefighting policies and procedures.

Managing risk assessments and document reviews related to BA and tactical firefighting
-
Standardisation of all other instructors for relevant area
-
General instruction where necessary
About You:
Essential:
-
You must be a competent, permanent fire-fighter or above with an in date ICL1 qualification to apply.

Applicants must have sound working knowledge of IT systems.

Willingness to attend residential courses if requested to obtain the relevant Instructor/Teaching qualifications, if not already achieved.

Strong leadership and team management skills.
-
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
-
Strong organisational and co-ordinating skills.
-
Be sensitive to the needs of the On-Call members of staff.
Desirable:
-
Holds existing instructional qualifications i.e., BA(I) or FBT(I)

Fire Service Watch Manager L&D - BA Lead
Location: The L&D team are based out of Penrith Headquarters, but training is delivered all over the county. For any candidates concerned about travel or a different rota, please get in touch and we can discuss.
Salary: Watch Manager B Salary plus 10% L&D Allowance
Hours: 42 hours
Contract: Fixed term contract, initially 3 months
Eligibility: INTERNAL OPERATIONAL STAFF ONLY

Awareness Session - an opportunity to meet directly with L&D to learn about the role and ask any queries - Wednesday 26th November at 18:30hrs
Closing date: Monday 1st December 2025 at 09:00hrs
Shortlisting: Monday 1st December 2025
Candidate Assessment information will be issued prior to the interview.
Interviews will be in-person on week commencing Monday 1st December 2025. (We will ensure all successfully shortlisted candidates have adequate prep time).
