About the role

We are looking for three fire Protection Inspectors to join our Fire Protection Team. This is a key role focused on helping to keep our communities safe by ensuring businesses and premises across Cumbria comply with fire safety legislation.

You will carry out fire safety audits in a variety of premises, including higher-risk environments, and provide expert advice to support compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Working closely with colleagues, partners and stakeholders, you will contribute to reducing risk and improving fire safety standards across the county.

This role combines inspection, investigation and communication, requiring a professional and proactive approach to fire safety enforcement and community engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake fire safety audits in higher-risk premises, including those with fire engineering solutions, to assess compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RR(FS)O)
  • Support the preparation and issuing of Enforcement, Prohibition and Restriction Notices in line with the RR(FS)O
  • Investigate breaches of fire safety legislation and prepare reports to support legal proceedings, ensuring evidence is gathered in accordance with PACE requirements
  • Provide advice and guidance on fire safety to businesses and support partnership working in line with the Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP)
  • Respond to complaints and concerns from members of the public within agreed timescales
