Fire Cadets celebrate graduation

A new cohort of Workington Community Fire Cadets have celebrated their graduation by showcasing the skills they have learned.

Fire Cadets

Eleven new Cadets have completed the four-month programme, run by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, and attended a celebration event at Workington Fire Station, joined by their families, friends and senior officers from the service.

The event included a demonstration drill of some of the skills the Cadets have learned at their weekly training sessions, in line with the National Fire Cadet Framework, including hose and ladder work at a simulated property fire, first aid, and an extrication of a casualty from a road traffic collision.

The Cadets were then presented with certificates by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Ian Seel, in addition to their uniform for the next stage of their development. ACFO Seel also recognised the existing Cadets and volunteer instructors with rank promotions and community contribution awards.

Thanks were extended to the existing Cadets, and all four watches from Workington Fire Station, who supported the programme.
