The service’s annual wholetime recruitment window opens in December, and ahead of that date, a series of in-person and online events are planned to offer anyone interested in becoming a firefighter an insight into life in the role and a career with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service.

The first is a Microsoft Teams session on Sunday, October 29 (7pm to 8pm), which will be hosted by the service’s recruitment team joined by a Station Manager and a member of the fitness team.

The session will provide an introduction to the service and the role of a firefighter, as well as an overview of the recruitment and assessment process, and information on the fitness and medical standards required. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

The event is free to attend and there is no need to register. Attendees will not be required to display their name or be on camera for the event.

The pre-application sessions are informal and optional. Details of how to formally register your interest will be published closer to the recruitment window opening in December.
