CFRS0175 - Face Fit Tester
About this opportunity
Help keep our people safe and protected. Join Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service as our Face Fit Tester and make sure staff across the organisation receive essential fit testing for tight‑fitting Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE).
In this hands‑on, varied role, you’ll travel across the service, work closely with key teams, maintain equipment, and give staff the confidence that their RPE is safe, compliant and fit for purpose. If you’re organised, approachable and great at managing your own workload, this could be the perfect fit.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver face fit tests for all staff who require tight‑fitting RPE.
• Advise on suitable alternative RPE where a good fit can’t be achieved.
• Work with Health & Safety, Procurement and Technical Services to ensure consistent standards.
• Carry out routine equipment checks, calibration and minor troubleshooting.
• Manage bookings, appointments and testing schedules across all locations.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records in line with GDPR.
• Liaise with internal teams and external partners to arrange testing.
• Complete other duties appropriate to the role.
What we’re looking for
Essential:
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Confident IT user (databases, record systems, MS Office).
• Team player with a flexible, proactive approach.
• Able to work independently when needed.
• Well‑organised, methodical and accurate.
• Understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
• Able to handle confidential information professionally.
• Able to travel across the county (full UK driving licence or ability to travel independently).
Desirable:
• Experience in emergency services or similar environments.
• Experience or accreditation in quantitative face fit testing.
