About this opportunity
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to join our Prevention team as a Community Safety Advisor.
The Prevention departments delivers a range of work across Cumbria, and our aim is to support on-going safety in our communities, while reducing risk of injury from fire and other emergencies. This is all done as part of our wider vision and commitment to the health, safety and wellbeing of the people that live, work, and visit Cumbria. The team focus on achieving this by delivering various community safety activities and creating close links with key groups in the community, especially in rural areas.
Being a Community Safety Advisor is a varied role that involves interacting with a wide range of people, predominantly in rural areas. You will be delivering and promoting a range of standard and targeted prevention activities, which will include delivering Home Safety visits in people’s homes; education and training in schools on fire safety; and engagement with the community to reduce the likelihood-of and impact-from fire, emergencies, and health related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver community safety and prevention work by supporting vulnerable people through targeted interventions, education, and referrals.
- Work collaboratively with partners and volunteers to promote safer, healthier communities, including support in rural areas.
- Plan and manage workload effectively, completing all required administration, records, and data in line with CFRS priorities.
