Millom fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine and a Wildfire Land Rover.
The A595 trunk road passes through the station area and this leads to a number of calls to attend road traffic collisions, the station also responds to a significant number of calls to the prison at Haverigg each year. Open farmland and fells brings the danger of agricultural and wildfires, in addition to other farm incidents, such as livestock rescues. Firefighters receive specialist training to deal with Wildfire incidents.
