Milnthorpe fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.

Although the station covers a relatively small area, within its boundaries are sections of both the West Coast Main Line and the M6 motorway. The station has attended numerous incidents on both these major transport networks. As Milnthorpe is also on the Kent Estuary, the station attends incidents involving the rescue of people who have become trapped in the notorious quicksands around the Kent Estuary, and for this reason works closely with other agencies including the Coast Guard.

Kirkby Lonsdale fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one engine.

In addition to the usual fire related incidents the station responds to a variety of other emergencies including incidents in the river Lune, road traffic collisions, often on the busy A65 trunk road, and the rescue of farm animals that may end up trapped in a number of situations.

Kendal fire station is staffed by Regular and On-call Firefighters and houses 2 fire engines and a Prime Mover which is used to transport the county's 2 High Volume Pumps (HVP).

Grange fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses and houses one fire engine and a Water Bowser.

As Grange is a coastal town on the estuary, over the years the station has attended numerous rescues of people and also animals that have become stuck in the quicksand. The busy main A590 trunk road runs through the station area, consequently, road traffic collisions form a significant part of the firefighter's duty today. Firefighters also receive specialist training to deal with wildfire incidents.

Coniston fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.

The risks are mainly residential; however there are a large number of hotels, guest houses, hostels, outward bound centres and other types of holiday accommodation throughout the area. The station attends a range of incidents from chimney fires to the rescue of large animals, farm fires, fell and forest fires. There are no trunk roads in the station area however there are a number of road traffic collisions every year on the congested, narrow, twisting roads around the lakes.

Broughton fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.

Barrow is headquarters for Barrow and South Lakeland Area of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and as well as providing first attendance to incidents in the station area, it also provides response to back up other stations throughout the area.

The station's firefighters are actively involved in a range of community safety activities including home safety visits and road awareness training.

Arnside fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine.

Ambleside fire station is staffed by On-call Firefighters and houses one fire engine and a Wildfire Land Rover.

Workington fire station is staffed by Regular and On-call Firefighters and houses two fire engines and the Joint Incident Command Unit (JICU). One of the fire engines is classed as an Enhanced Rescue Pump (ERP) and carries additional equipment to facilitate rescues involving large goods vehicles involved in Road Traffic Collisions, as well as a boat for water rescues from inland water ways. This vehicle also carries other associated rescue equipment for the release of large animals.
